"Dear
PocketMail Lady"
Jim Redd's on the
Road e-Journal
Jim Redd is a bicycle activist, author, and poet. When the mood strikes him, he
packs up his trailer with camping gear and takes to America's roads on his bike.
He inspires us with his love of cycling and urges us to get out from behind our
car windshields, to feel the wind in our face, to get in touch with the rich
tapestry of America's landscape and people. Much more than a typical travelogue,
Jim's letters to the "Pocketmail Lady" probe beneath the appearance of things to
reveal unexpected and yes, sometimes even profound truths, yet does it in an
entertaining and engaging style that is a pleasure to read.

"With 500 Planet Pollsters of varying degrees of technical ability in 116 countries, transmitting all of the data from the handheld computers to the Mission Control Center is definitely a challenge," said Rick Smolan, Director of The Planet Project.
"A normal modem doesn't work because every location requires a different phone connector and there are issues of line noise, ambient noise, old creaky analog phone systems - a complete telecommunications Tower of Babel. The one solution to all of these problems is The PocketMail BackFlip from Pocket.com. With the push of a single button, the collected data will be transmitted seamlessly to Mission Control."
